Functional Features
(1). High-quality water-proof design.
(2). RJ45 and RS 232 port, SNMP management system.
(3). Adopts JDSU, Fitel, and Bookham Ⅱ-Ⅵ Pump laser
(4). Multi-ports output, Optional built-in 1310/1490/1550 WDM.
(5). Dual power hot plug power supply for choice, 90V~265V AC or -48V DC
(6). The double cooling system can protect the pump laser to work for a long time.
(7). Good stability, VFD displays the working conditions and good trouble alarm system.
(8). Single/dual input for choice, built-in optical switch for dual input
(9). The output power is adjustable by buttons in the panel or WEB SNMP, the range is down 4dBm
(10). Maintenance function of one-time downward attenuation of 6dBm by buttons or web SNMP, to facilitate the optical fiber hot-plug operation without turning off the device
(11). Standard RJ 45 port for remote control, we can provide output contract and web manager for choice, and also plug-in SNMP hardware can be reserved for the update.
Important Notes
(1). Please avoid facing the optic power output port directly, and avoid the eyes seeing the output without protection.
(2). Please turn off the power first then plug in or out the patch cord
(3). EDFA has a very small influence on CSO and CTB but has a big influence on C/N. The input optical power influences the C/N. High optical input gets higher C/N. Please see the following data. The minimum optical input should be 4dBm.
Trouble Shoots
The display on the screen of the EDFA shows the correct output of the pump laser, but the test result in the output is lower than shown, please check the following steps.
(1). Check the optical meter. Because of the high out of EDFA, please don’t use a Chinese optical meter to test the EDFA, the advised one is EXFO.
(2). The output adaptor burnt.
(3). The operator plugs in and out the patch cord when the power is on, this will burn the output pigtail connector and make the output lower. The solution is to splice a new pigtail connector.
(4). Some operators use a bad quality patch cord and its fiber core is too long, after connected, it will hurt the pigtail of the pump laser output. In this condition, in the first test, the output is correct, but in the second time, the output becomes lower. The solution is also to splice a new pigtail connector.
(5). The wavelength of the input deviates far from 1550nm, which will make both the output port and screen show lower.
(6). Too low input will make both the output and screen show lower.
Precautions:
(1). Before installation or operation of the unit, please carefully go through the user’s manual
(2). SPAO Series EDFA should be serviced only by qualified personnel.
(3). Before proceeding with the installation and/or operation of the transmitter, please assure that transmitter is well-earthed.
(4). SPAO Series EDFA are Class III laser products. Use of controls, adjustments, and procedures other than those specified herein may result in hazardous laser radiation exposure.
