Recently, ZTE and Hangzhou Telecom have completed the pilot application of XGS-PON live network in a well-known live broadcast base in Hangzhou. In this pilot project, through the XGS-PON OLT+FTTR all-optical networking+XGS-PON Wi-Fi 6 AX3000 Gateway and Wireless Router, access to multiple professional cameras and 4K Full NDI (Network Device Interface) live broadcast system, for each live broadcast room of the live broadcast base Provide all-optical ultra-gigabit uplink enterprise broadband access, and realize 4K multi-view and VR high-quality live broadcast demonstration.
At present, live broadcasting is still one of the most popular industries, but the traditional single-view “hawking” live broadcasting form has formed aesthetic fatigue, and the extreme contrast between sellers’ shows and buyers’ shows has also reduced the effect of traditional live broadcasting. Consumers are looking forward to the emergence of all-round, multi-scenario, immersive, WYSIWYG live broadcasting. Facing the future development of the live broadcast industry, this pilot project is based on XGS-PON to carry out radio and television level 4K Full NDI and 1+N multi-view live broadcast, and carried out a live delivery demonstration of Tianyi cloud computer and a VR live broadcast experience. Compared with the current 1080P RMTP (Real Time Messaging Protocol) deep compression, low bit rate, second-level delay and image loss technology, 4K Full NDI technology has shallow compression, 4K high image quality, high fidelity, and millisecond-level Advantages such as low latency. Combined with the multi-screen function, it can display product details more perfectly, making the live broadcast form more realistic and immersive. It is very suitable for scenes with high requirements for remote real-time interaction and synchronization such as live broadcast reports, live connections, and online competitions. However, this technology also has extremely high bandwidth requirements. A single code stream needs to reach 40M-150Mbps, and the total bandwidth of 3-way multi-view angles needs to reach 100M-500Mbps.
ZTE and Hangzhou Telecom have used the XGS-PON network. The on-site pilot shows that compared with the traditional XG-PON network, the picture lag, freeze and black screen are obvious, and the live broadcast picture carried by XGS-PON is always clear and smooth, which fully reflects the XGS-PON Uplink bandwidth capabilities and advantages. The XGS-PON uplink large bandwidth feature matches the business characteristics of the live broadcast base, and the uplink bandwidth of each live broadcast room is increased from the traditional 20M-30M to 100M-500M. On the one hand, it solves the problems of bandwidth congestion caused by concurrent live broadcasts, or live broadcast stuttering and quality degradation caused by mixed access to other users’ traffic on the PON port. At the same time, the advantages of XGS-PON’s large splitting ratio will further improve the cost performance of the network, reduce TCO, and better meet the development demands of enterprise users
