On March 7, 2023, VIAVI Solutions will highlight new Ethernet test solutions at OFC 2023, which will be held in San Diego, USA from March 7 to 9. OFC is the world’s largest conference and exhibition for optical communication and networking professionals.
Ethernet is driving bandwidth and scale at unprecedented speeds. Ethernet technology also has the key features of classic DWDM in fields such as data center interconnection (DCI) and ultra-long distance (such as ZR). Higher levels of testing are also required to meet Ethernet scale and bandwidth as well as service provisioning and DWDM capabilities. More than ever, network architects and developers need sophisticated instrumentation to test higher speed Ethernet services for greater flexibility and performance.
VIAVI has expanded its presence in the field of Ethernet testing with a new High Speed Ethernet (HSE) platform. This multiport solution complements the industry-leading physical layer test capabilities of the VIAVI ONT-800 platform. HSE provides integrated circuit, module and network system companies with high-speed equipment for testing up to 128 x 800G. It provides physical layer testing capabilities with advanced traffic generation and analysis to troubleshoot and test the functionality and performance of integrated circuits, pluggable interfaces, and switching and routing devices and networks.
VIAVI will also demonstrate the recently announced 800G Ethernet Technology Consortium (ETC) capabilities of the ONT 800G FLEX XPM module, which supports the testing needs of hyperscale enterprises, data centers and related applications. In addition to supporting the implementation of 800G ETC, it also provides a wide range of forward error correction (FEC) stress and verification tools, which are critical for the implementation of ASIC, FPGA and IP. VIAVI ONT 800G XPM also provides tools to verify possible future IEEE 802.3df drafts.
Tom Fawcett, senior vice president and general manager of VIAVI’s laboratory and production business unit, said: “As a leader in optical network testing up to 1.6T, VIAVI will continue to invest in helping customers easily overcome the challenges and complexities of high-speed Ethernet testing. problem. Our ONT-800 platform now supports 800G ETC, providing the needed addition to our solid physical layer test foundation as we upgrade our Ethernet stack to a new HSE solution.”
VIAVI will also launch a new series of VIAVI loopback adapters at OFC. VIAVI QSFP-DD800 Loopback Adapter Enables Network Equipment Vendors, IC Designers, Service Providers, ICPs, Contract Manufacturers and FAE Teams to Develop, Verify and Produce Ethernet Switches, Routers and Processors Using High-Speed Pluggable Optics device. These adapters provide a cost-effective and scalable solution for loopback and load ports up to 800Gbps compared to expensive and sensitive pluggable optics. The adapters also support thermal simulation to verify the cooling capabilities of the device architecture.
